How to Get Amorphous Material Patterns in The First Descendant

Amorphous Material Patterns are obtained as mission rewards in The First Descendant. Completing missions in each of the zones throughout the world of The First Descendant will reward you with specific Patterns, so you can target farm them to get the ones you need. You’ll likely amass quite a collection just by playing through the main campaign.

How to Open Amorphous Material Pattern in The First Descendant

Once you obtain an Amorphous Material Pattern, you’ll need to open it to get the reward inside. Each Amorphous Material is associated with a certain boss or mission. If you defeat that boss or complete that mission with the correct Amorphous Material Pattern in your possession, you’ll be able to interact with a green orb and use the Reconstructed Device to crack it open and reveal its contents.

For example, Amorphous Material Pattern: 002 requires you to defeat Grave Walker to open it. You can check which boss or mission is associated with an Amorphous Material Pattern by opening your inventory, hovering over it, and selecting “Linked Reconstruction Device info.” This is done with the L key on PC by default.

While you’re hovering over an Amorphous Material Pattern, you’ll also be able to see all the possible rewards contained within. You’ll only get one item when opening an Amorphous Material Pattern, and you can see the drop chances for each potential reward by hovering over it in your inventory. There’s a 38% chance for Amorphous Material Pattern: 002 to drop Gley Code, for example, which is used to unlock Gley as a playable Descendant.
